Leaders in Innovative Grocery
and Retail Store Design

Cushing Terrell’s multi-disciplinary team in Minneapolis, MN, specializes in the design of grocery and retail stores that are specialized, branded, and sustainable. Great stores deliver local flavor, multi-sensory experiences, and authenticity — and we help bring these to the forefront.

Our team partners closely with grocery purveyors — Albertsons, ACME Markets, H-E-B, Southeastern Grocers, Hy-Vee, and Whole Foods Market to name a few — to create sustainable yet cost-effective designs that consider the latest in refrigeration technology, customer flow, lighting, kitchen organization, customer seating, grab-and-go options, interactive cooking demonstrations, curbside pick-up, and more.

We have a design methodology with a track record of the most important kind: delighted customers and ecstatic store management. Our retail client roster spans giants like Walmart, Costco, Amazon, and Minneapolis’ own, Target; but also grocers (see above), restaurants, tire centers, wine shops, breweries, and even boutique stores in national parks.

The collaborative retail designs we create are underscored by seamless interconnectivity of online and brick-and-mortar shopping, cutting-edge in-store technology, and a delicate balance between authentic local flair and corporate branding. We regularly contribute to the revision of clients’ branding and design guidelines, creating programmatic elements carried into all future locations.

Thank you for tapping into all your past Hy-Vee knowledge and asking questions along the way for new areas. We really appreciate the upfront coordination. Great work!

Designing a Home That’s 100% You

No cookie-cutter home designs here. Our Minneapolis residential design team creates an experience that is creative and personal, yet expressive and interactive. It’s our mission to inspire and make real our clients’ dreams while grounding them in reality with designs that are high-performing, long-lasting, and beautiful.

Our favorite homes reflect an owner’s personality, blend in with and harness the natural elements around them, and are built with the future — of both the planet and cost of maintenance – in mind. Every custom home design begins and ends with detailed conversation.

We aim to make the collaborative design of your future home an absolute joy. And we’d love to talk to you about what you have in mind.

We Love the Twin Cities!

Located in a renovated historic warehouse near the Mississippi River, we are home to a fun-loving group of architects, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and marketing professionals. We are a tight-knit group that enjoys sampling craft brews, debating the difference between a hot-dish and a casserole, and charretting our way to warmth during the cold Minnesota winter.

Even though we’re a hardworking bunch, we still find time to challenge one another to games of ping pong, take two-wheeled architectural tours of the Twin Cities, and engage the community through Habitat for Humanity, Urban Land Institute, Minneapolis Downtown Council, and both the Minneapolis and St. Paul Chambers of Commerce. Stop in and say hi, and see if you can beat our reigning ping pong champ!
