Project Overview:
CTA was brought on as the architectural and engineering consultant early in the conceptual stages of this 20,000 sq. ft., 9th-12th school. Multiple design charettes were held with students, staff, and teachers to critically analyze how the current school operated, what the implications of project-based learning were, and how to solve existing problems. Located centrally is the multifunctional commons area, designed and acoustically considered to serve as a cafeteria, kitchenette, auditorium, and performance area. The administrative area provides offices, a work room, volunteer room, and a reception area. The building envelope was designed to maximize natural daylight and provide views for all regularly occupied spaces.
The project team reinforced the need for energy efficiency, conservation, and sustainable building practices, and as a result, this project has been awarded LEED® Silver for Schools. It is the intention that through innovative design and environmental stewardship, the school will be used to educate future generations to think critically about both the built and natural environments
